Where you stay

Excursions from Puerto de la Cruz

Staying in the north changes the trip. Fewer excursions collect from Puerto de la Cruz, often only on set days, and boat trips mean going to the south-west harbours. Here is what does come north.

Most organised excursions in Tenerife are run from the south. From Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava you will find daily pickups for some Teide tours, and pickups on fixed days for evening stargazing, a few boat trips and some La Gomera days. The cards below show the days we found on each operator’s own page.

None of the authorised whale-watching boats in the official register (file dated 15 October 2026, consulted on 21 October 2026) had a northern home port. A few operators send a coach north on set days; otherwise you need to get to Puerto Colón, Los Cristianos or Los Gigantes yourself.

For Mount Teide, compare Teide tours, including the cable car rules, and stargazing tours.

Tours that collect from Puerto de la Cruz

The pickup row shows the days and notes we found for this area on each operator’s own page, with its status.

Pickup days, guide and length side by side, as each operator states them. Sources and dates are in each card.

Questions people ask

Can I go whale watching from Puerto de la Cruz?

Not from the town’s harbour. Whale-watching boats sail from the south and west coasts. Some operators run a coach from the north on certain days; the cards on this page list the ones we found.

Why do so many tours not pick up in the north?

In the records we checked, northern pickups exist but are often limited to some days of the week or to specific stops, while the south gets more days. The operators do not explain why, so check the pickup row of each card.

Is La Orotava covered by the same pickups?

Often, but not always. Some operators list Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava together; others only one of them, or a central stop. Check the pickup row of each card.

Do I need a car if I stay in the north?

It helps more than in the south, especially for boat trips and for flexibility. Without one, choose tours that list your area and day, or use the public bus to reach the meeting point.

Are there excursions in German from the north?

Some operators run German-language coaches from the north on fixed days, for example for Teide evening tours. The guide and pickup rows show what each operator states.
